Overview

The Hervey Bay City Centre Community Hub project is a major $108.7 million development aimed at revitalising the city centre. It includes a five-story building on the corner of Main Street and Torquay Road in Pialba, Hervey Bay, featuring several key components:

Disaster Resilience Centre: A state-of-the-art facility designed to enhance the area’s preparedness for emergencies.
Expanded Library: A two-level modern library for community learning and engagement.
Public Plaza: An outdoor space for socialising and community events.
Flexible Community Spaces: These areas can be used for meetings and events, catering to a variety of needs.

More than 75% of the development is dedicated to community space, making it a central hub for learning, social interaction, and accessing council services. The construction, which began in early 2024, is expected to be completed by mid-2026.

Additionally, the project will feature a basement car park with 68 spaces and aims to boost local employment by engaging regional contractors and suppliers throughout the construction process.
